Frequently Asked Questions

How rankings, tiers and verification actually work here — including what money can and cannot buy.

Rankings, tiers and verification

4 questions
Can a company pay for a higher rank?

No. Ranking position is decided by our published criteria and is never for sale. If a page ever carries sponsored or featured placement, it is labelled as such and kept structurally separate from the ranking order. See our Commercial Policy.

What is the difference between rank, tier and verification?

Rank is a company’s position within one ranking edition. Tier (A, B or C) reflects how strong the evidence is against that ranking’s criteria. Verification is a separate check on a company’s identity and profile details. The three are independent: a verified company can sit anywhere in a ranking, and a high rank does not imply verification. How We Rank explains each one.

What does TopChoice Verified mean?

It means a company’s core identity and profile data passed the checks described on our Verification page. It is an identity check, not a quality guarantee, and it has no effect on ranking position.

How often are rankings updated?

Each ranking is refreshed on a scheduled annual cycle, and sooner if a material fact changes: a licence is revoked, a company closes, or a significant new entrant appears. Every edition shows the date it was last reviewed.

Getting listed and correcting mistakes

4 questions
How do I nominate a company?

Use the Nominate a Company form. A nomination adds a company to our research pool; it does not guarantee a listing, a tier, verification, or a ranking position.

My company’s details are wrong. How do I fix them?

Send the correction through the Request a Correction form, with a source we can check where possible. Our Corrections Policy sets out how quickly we respond and how changes are logged.

Where does your information come from?

Company facts come from official sources such as SSM records, company websites and regulator registers, together with Google’s public ratings snapshot taken on a stated date. Every ranking edition lists its sources, and our Source Verification Policy describes the standard each source has to meet.

Do you take payment for listing, verification or a better position?

No. Listing, verification and ranking position cannot be bought, and paying does not move a company up. Any commercial relationship that does exist is disclosed under our Commercial Policy.
